After almost 6 years with the band BIG IN IOWA, and the 7 years before that with USED TOYS, Rick House has got his own act together.
During Rick's tenure with BIG IN IOWA, they recorded 4 studio albums and 1 live CD. BIG IN IOWA were also featured on numerous compilation and collector disks including THIS NOTE'S FOR YOU TOO (a tribute to Neil Young) and Larry Goshorn's CINCINNATI SHADES OF BLUE VOLUME 2.
Rick won the "Cammy Award" presented by the Cincinnati Enquirer twice. In both 1999 and 2000, Rick won "BEST ROCK INSTRUMENTALIST in Cincinnati" for his work on the guitar.
Rick has teamed up with long time friend and keyboardist Bob Kennedy formerly of the VAN DELLS to form the RICK HOUSE BAND. Their song list is heavy on variety and dance. You can hear music from the 1960s (Beatles and CCR), the 1970s and 1980s (Eagles, Tom Petty and Pink Floyd). Or you can rock out to newer stuff from Dave Matthews, Creed or Lenny Kravitz. The RICK HOUSE BAND have been known to play a few country songs for the serious variety audience. Or, you can sing along with a Jimmy Buffet song... Request something and the RICK HOUSE BAND can probably play it.
In July of 2008 Rick and Bob were very proud to welcome MARTIN HAYES to the band. Martin is an outstanding drummer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist. Martin's credits include TRANZITION, TZ5, and THE MAXX. Martin was also formerly the Musical Director of LA COMEDIA Dinner Theatre, and was formally trained at Berklee College of Music in Boston.
Several nights a month you can hear KODIE MONTANA with the band, she is known for her country vocals and her outgoing personality, but she is a fine rock vocalist as well. Starting in late November of 2011, Ricks brother JOHN HOUSE will be playing with the band reminding people of the old USED TOYS/HOUSE BROTHERS days.
